Swirls of Noise Radio #44

New and old, obscure and well known, soft and heavy – this radio edition is filled with a good mixture of the music I’ve been listening to for the last few weeks. Starting softer with ambient from Eluvium, it’s followed by doomy tracks from the new albums by Darkher and Subrosa. Emanation through to Akhlys showcase somefantastic modern black/death metal, especially the brilliant Spire, while Kvist, Sacramentum and Dawn provides old school melodic black metal – beautiful stuff. New brutal death/slam comes from Visions of Disfigurement and Neurogenic, with the old school represented by Brodequin and Disgorge. Obscure doom band Castle should appeal to fans of Always…era The Gathering, Exodus should need no introduction, and Satyricon’s  frontman Satyr’s Wongraven show that sometimes black metal artists CAN successfully dabble in ambient music.
